Piya Kerdlap

Piya Kerdlap is a sustainability scientist and international development professional. He has ten years of experience in life cycle assessment, circular economy, and clean energy in Southeast Asia. He is the founder and managing director of PXP Sustainability, a consulting firm that helps businesses, non-profit organizations, and development agencies measure and build strategies to achieve their sustainability goals in Asia. Piya is an alumnus of the Fulbright U.S. Student program and obtained his bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore.

So Pyay

So Pyay is currently working as a life cycle engineer at PXP Sustainability, contributing to many projects including the bioplastic industry in Thailand and the sponge city development in China. He also has an academic research background in life cycle assessment and product environmental footprint of rubber products in Thailand. Previously, he worked as an environmental and social impact assessment consultant in private sectors, especially focusing on the development-related projects of energy generation and mining in Myanmar. He holds a research master’s degree in environmental engineering from Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), master of science in sustainability management from University of Agder (Norway) and master of business administration from Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia). 

Yu-Ping Chen

Yu-Ping Chen is an expert in ecological engineering techniques and natural resource assessment. She is the founder and secretary general of the Taiwan Environment & Planning Association, established in 2020. She also holds dual master's degrees - an MSc in Conservation and Biodiversity from the University of Exeter and an MS in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia.

In recent years, her organization has played a critical role in assessing the environmental impact and establishing mechanisms for fish farm solar development in Taiwan. Solar panels built on fish farms are unique facilities under Taiwan’s geological conditions. During the seminar, Yu-Ping will discuss how she and her organization utilize impact assessment and ecological design to create a win-win situation for renewable energy and local fish farmers.

Maika Daveta

Maika Daveta is the National Project Coordinator for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN “Forest and Landscape Restoration Project”. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree on the elucidation, mass production and inoculation of rhizobium for restoration of degraded lands. His work revolves around plant genetic resources, biodiversity and conservation, food and nutrition security, participatory land use assessment and planning, natural resource management, climate change adaptation and mitigation, land degradation, rural development and capacity building to name a few. Mr Daveta will share lessons learnt on how Participatory Land Use Assessment and Planning is being translated as Decision Support Tools for Informed Mataqali / Community member in Naviti Island, Fiji especially in upscaling restoration efforts and addressing competing land users.

Chinasa T. Okolo

Chinasa T. Okolo is a fifth-year Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Computer Science at Cornell University. Before coming to Cornell, she graduated from Pomona College with a degree in Computer Science. Her research interests include explainable AI, human-AI interaction, global health, and information & communication technologies for development (ICTD). Within these fields, she works on projects to understand how frontline healthcare workers in rural India perceive and value artificial intelligence and examines how explainability can be best leveraged in AI-enabled technologies deployed throughout the Global South.

Joy Ming

Joy Ming is a PhD Student in Information Science at Cornell University. She does critical design action research at the intersection of design justice, global health equity, and the future of work. She has over a decade of experience designing and building technology systems to reduce health inequities and fill resource gaps for entrepreneurs in South/Southeast Asia, Western Africa, and the US. She was a Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Scholar based in New Delhi, India in 2015-2016.

Animesh Singh

patient illnesses and diseases. Acclaimed for making informed decisions to manage a variety of
patient ailments. Skilled in the delivery of medical advice with a focus on patient assessments,
correct diagnosis, and effective treatment. Experienced in the recommendation and prescription
of appropriate medication. Ensures adherence to healthcare guidelines and standard practice.
Passionate about public health and family medicine.

Chandan Raman

Dr. Chandan Raman has 5 years of experience as a medical Doctor and he is also an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) Alumnus of March- 2019. He is currently president of United
National Medical Society of Nepal.

He was chairperson of " External Affairs committee in 2011AD " in Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (KUSMS), Dhulikhel where he mobilised
more than 700 medical students. He was "President of KUSMS Students Council " from 2012 to 2014 AD.

He was elected as a " Secretary of NGO/ INGO federation in 2019 AD under Ministry of Youth and sports at National Youth Council(NYC). In the mean
time of pandemic ( COVID-19) he was appointed as a " Coordinator of policy making team for health issues at National Youth Council and directly reported
at PM office. He has worked on the issues of biohazards, waste management and community sanitation under his NGO programs to reduce impact on climate and environment.

He is a first person to write a book in simple Nepali language about "COVID-19 pandemic" focusing the facts, myths and Vaccination. His book " Introduction to COVID-19 “. MCID- Washington, recognized his work done during COVID-19 pandemic. He has received Certificate of appreciation from UNDP for spreading awareness on COVID-19.

Dr. Chandan has obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS) degree from Kathmandu University School of Medical Science, Nepal.
